Dorthy and Robert Hayes visited America’s Car-Mart expecting to be turned down. Robert had been browsing online and spotted a Chevy Silverado that he and Dorthy liked. But in Dorthy’s mind, the answer would be “no.” With a poor credit history and prior experience with other dealerships turning them down, she didn’t believe financing approval was possible.

The truck was still there, and Robert took it for a test drive. With just $500 to put down, Dorthy braced herself for disappointment, until Cadarius “Leo” Prater, their Sales Associate, returned with unexpected words: Congratulations, you’ve got a car!
Quickly, they were approved. In no time, Dorthy and Robert were driving home in the truck they wanted: a 2016 Chevy Silverado 4WD.
“It was a miracle we got it!”
“I kept saying, don’t expect it,” Dorthy says. “When they told us yes, I had no words. I was really shocked! We actually got something we truly wanted.” Dorthy and Robert were used to hearing no or being told what they could have instead. “I wanted something I wanted,” continues Dorthy. “Not what the dealership wanted me to have.”
“We were treated like royalty.”
What stood out most wasn’t just the approval, but how they were treated. “I was treated like a queen,” Dorthy smiles. “Like royalty.” She credits Leo and Assistant Manager Michelle Vonkennen for making them feel valued. “They fussed over us like we were important people.”
