Provides financial counseling to customers to secure delinquent payments by performing the following duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contacts delinquent account customers by mail, in person, in the office, or by telephone in attempt to collect overdue payments.
  • Contacting a delinquent customer in person is done by completing a personal visit. Personal visits are a vital part of our collections strategy and typically will consume 50% or more of an Account Representatives time.
  • May collect funds and post them to accounts.
  • Grants payment extensions.
  • Evaluates customer records and recommends that accounts be closed or collection attempted based on earnings and payment history.
  • Seeks to establish an excellent two-way communications relationship with every customer to facilitate solution of any issues.
  • Confers with customers to determine if their monthly incomes, after living expenses, enable them to meet their credit obligations.
  • Calculates amount of debt and funds available to plan method of payoff and estimate time for debt liquidation.
  • Verifies customer information offered on their credit applications.
  • Enters new customer data and other data for current customers in Company’s computer database.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your direct manager.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and support company mission, vision, values and standards of ethics.
  • Daily attendance required to ensure all duties are completed in timely fashion

Education and/or Experience
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with fellow Associates, customers, and vendors both in person and using a telephone.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of diverse situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Computer Operations
Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, Microsoft Suite which includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. Be able to master Company’s purchased commercial and Company specific software.

Planning/Organization
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally under 1/3 of the time required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bending; twisting.
  • Frequently over 2/3 of the time required to sit; stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally under 1/3 of the time required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently up to 2/3 of the time required to have both Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).

Physical Activity Level
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities such as an administrative nature.

Work Schedule/Hours
Normal work hours and/or schedule as assigned by Direct Supervisor or Manager based upon job requirements. Schedule and/or hours may be adjusted with a need for overtime hours or reduced work depending upon business demands with compensation adjusted accordingly.

Work Environment
Frequently more than 2/3 of the time exposed to moderate noise (examples include business office with computers and printers, light traffic or parking lot noise.

Travel
Up to 10% – Minimal travel by land and/or air. Overnight travel could be required.
