YES, to the kids!
When America’s Car-Mart asked Shred-it® to help with its Holiday Toy Drive, the answer was an unequivocal and overwhelming yes.
“Let’s do this!” That was the consensus of everyone at Shred-it®. “We want to give back to the kids and children’s hospitals,” says Monica Morand, District Account Manager, and Shred-it’s toy drive coordinator. “Especially this year, it’s been a troubled year, and coming out of COVID, this is a really good year to participate in the toy drive.”
Shred-it, a Stericycle solution, is donating $5,000 worth of toys to share at various Car-Mart locations and children’s hospitals. Shred-it® is Car-Mart’s preferred vendor for its document destruction program.
“It’s easy to get into the stresses of the holiday season, so it’s nice to take time to find ways to give back to the communities where we live and work,” Monica continues. “At Shred-it, we’re thrilled to partner with America’s Car-Mart and do some good deeds.”

It’s personal for Monica
Monica’s two-year-old son, Miles, spent a night in the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. earlier this year. The nurses brought toys to Miles to help take his mind off being in the hospital.
He was also able to disconnect from all his cords and play in the playroom.
Monica didn’t know what to expect at the hospital, but she’s thrilled the toys are used throughout the year.
“I’ve seen first-hand what having a warm environment in a hospital can do for a child. I know what these toys mean to the kids,” says Monica, who adds that Miles is healthy and doing well. “And I work for a company that is helping a cause that has directly impacted me.”
Shred-it’s promise
‘We protect what matters.’ That’s Shred-it’s promise to its customers and communities. So, it was an easy decision when Car-Mart asked Shred-it® to help with its Holiday Toy Drive.
“While we protect confidential material for companies, and we safely handle medical waste to take care of our environment, this toy drive was another opportunity to help people in our communities,” remarks Monica. “It’s a great program, and every year it gets better and better.”
Spreading love
“Our team members across the Stericycle family of brands think the toy drive is awesome. They’re super excited to be involved, and they’re appreciative of the initiative,” Monica comments. “They have a sense of pride working for a company that gives back.”
Monica and the Shred-it® team worked with Car-Mart to identify locations that need a helping hand in collecting toys. Shred-it® is sending toy care packages to Car-Mart of Evansville, Ind. For the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, as well as the Car-Mart of Burlington, Iowa, for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Team members will personally deliver toys to Car-Mart of Harrison, Ark., Car-Mart of Lexington, Ky., and Car-Mart of St. Joseph, Mo.
“We want to be impactful with our toy donations,” Monica says. “We also reviewed the [toy] wish list from the hospitals so we’re focusing on infants and teenagers who don’t get as much love.”
